Committed to Veterans
In true embodiment of the university’s motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve), and as a thank-you to the sacrifices made by United States military service members, Virginia Tech provides ongoing assistance to veterans returning to the workforce through a series of programs and services.
Additionally, as the commonwealth’s most comprehensive university and its leading research institution, Virginia Tech strives to employ a diverse workforce of individuals who work in a wide range of positions.
As a Certified V3 Employer, Virginia Tech is consistently recognized in recruiting, hiring, and retaining veteran talent. In recognition of this commitment, Virginia Tech was awarded a statewide Virginia Values Veterans Governor’s Award for hiring more veterans than any other state agency in the Commonwealth.
In addition to being a certified V3 employer, we created an approved Virginia Department of Veterans Services SkillBridge program to offer transitioning service members the opportunity to gain valuable civilian skills through work experience in a variety of departments across the university.
Virginia Tech is proud to join the 4+1 Commitment, a partnership with Blue Star Families and Hiring Our Heroes, aimed at improving military spouse employment outcomes. With military spouse unemployment rates being five to six times higher than the national average, this initiative is designed to address these disparities by encouraging employers to adopt meaningful hiring policies. As part of our ongoing dedication to serving military families, we are committed to helping military spouses find opportunities that lead to stable employment and long-term career success.
The university is fully committed to equal employment opportunity and affirmative action for covered veterans and with approximately 250 job openings every day opportunities for veterans are abundant.
Virginia Tech is committed to veterans and helping them find employment at the university. If you are a veteran or military spouse and in need of assistance with employment, please contact our Recruiter, Enrique Noyola.
